Treatment: Two Minutes

Our film, 'Aftermath' is a thriller which involves the kidnap of a young girl who is held hostage by a mysterious kidnapper who convinces her best friend to complete a series of tasks so that he will release her. We have decided that our film will be classed as 15 certificate as it includes scenes of violence and threatening behaviour. Our film will attract a vast audience, including both males and females, young and old. We decided the range for our audience would most probably be 15-40 years old. The film will attract a young female audience as it is about two girls who have to remain strong throughout the film, one of them having to complete a series of dangerous tasks - this would be inspirational for the young females. However, the fact that the two main characters are females could also attract a young male audience. For the older end of our audience, they will be attracted by the intruiging and tense story line, which will inevitablly keep them on the end of their seat.

The opening sequence of our film 'Aftermath' starts with the main character, Sophie, tied up in a dark, eerie garage. She is unconscious and appears scruffy and slightly bruised. Sophie's phone is left on the side in the room, it starts to ring which wakes her up. The phone shows that Sophie has four missed calls and six new messages. As she doesn't know where she is or what has happened she begins to look around the room trying to establish where she is. She begins to have a flashback.

In the flashback we see Sophie walking through a park alone, it is near dark and she's on her way to meet her friend. We then realise that Sophie is being watched as we see the shot from the kidnappers point of view. The kidnapper is hiding in the trees staring out on Sophie as she walks to meet her friend. While the kidnapper is moving around behind the trees he accidentally stands on a twig which triggers Sophie's attention making her turn around. The kidnapper then has to stand back behind the tree so she doesn't see him.

We are then taken back to the scene where Sophie is tied up in the garage. Her whole body is tied to the chair, as well as gagged. Her phone begins to ring again causing the kidnapper to enter the scene and picking up the phone. The call is from her friend, Emily, who is wondering where she is - the kidnapper ends the call.

There is another flashback, however this time we see Sophie's friend, Emily, waiting for her. Emily is confused and worried as to why Sophie hasn't turned up yet. She takes a quick look around the park and then sends a text to Sophie saying "Where are you?". Emily is then approached by her boyfriend, Josh, who is going to meet some friends. They have a conversation and Emily begins to explain that Sophie hasn't turned up yet, confessing her worry. Emily checks her phone again. Josh reassures her that she will turn up before kissing her on the cheek and leaving. As Josh leaves, Emily checks her watch.

The scene cuts back to the eerie garage and we see the kidnapper approaching Sophie. He has Sophie's phone in his hand as he is going to make a call to Emily. As he puts the phone to his ear, we cut to a next shot showing Emily is receiving a phone call, believing it to be Emily, she answers. The kidnapper says hello and begins to explain that he has Sophie tied up in this garage and he wants her to complete a series of tasks in order to get her back. At first, Emily doesn't believe him and ask if it is a joke. To make her see he is telling the truth, the kidnapper rips the gag from Sophie's mouth causing her to scream. The shot then cuts out to reveal the film title, 'Aftermath'.
